GradSpace – Feb ’12

Recently I have been busy meeting with staff at the University to identify topics, existing content and materials that could be of interest to alumni via the GradSpace platform. I am currently extracting and re-purposing aspects of undergraduate and Masters level statistics modules – breaking them down into bite sized learning resources or e-lessons. I anticipate that these will be popular with users who work with data as part of their occupations.

I can’t believe that we are already thinking about developing our project deliverables! It seems like only yesterday that we all met in Nottingham for the Relationship Management Start up Event. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to the webinar on the 12th March, which will be a good opportunity to find out more about what is required. It will be a chance to hear about the progress of other projects within the strand and to share some of our initial findings on GradSpace.

    Hi Peter,
Now that I am beginning to think about reporting on the GradSpace project, it is dawning on me just how difficult evaluating impacts will be – particularly as alumni are geographically dispersed and not necessarily formally engaging with the university. Also, It think the short timescales make evaluating things like new resources and developments tricky. Anyway, I am going to try to gather both quantitative and qualitative data through surveys and telephone interviews with GradSpace users. If you have any more ideas, or have seen other useful methods of engaging alumni in evaluation work then please let me know!
    All the best,
    Loretta.

  2. The work on the statistics modules is really interesting. How will you gather feedback?

I imagine it will be hard to get enough time to test the reception amongst audiences for the ‘bite-sized’ versions.
